At Kulap Primary School, Mathematics (Numeracy) is a core part of the curriculum, helping students develop essential skills in number, measurement, geometry, statistics, and algebra while fostering logical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence with numbers. Aligned with the F–6 Victorian Curriculum 2.0, our program ensures that learning builds progressively from Foundation to Year 6, giving students a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and the ability to apply these skills in everyday life.
In the early years, students explore counting, patterns, shapes, and basic operations, developing fluency and understanding of number relationships. As they progress through the school, they extend these skills to fractions, decimals, measurement, data interpretation, and problem-solving, learning to think critically and reason mathematically. Lessons are hands-on, engaging, and often linked to real-world contexts, helping students see how mathematics applies to their lives.
By participating in collaborative activities, investigations, and practical challenges, students also develop personal and social capabilities, resilience, and confidence in tackling new problems.
