Social & Emotional Learning

At Kulap Primary School, we place a strong focus on supporting social and emotional learning (SEL) in line with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, particularly within the Personal and Social Capability and Health and Physical Education learning areas. We explicitly teach students the skills they need to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and develop resilience. Through class discussions, circle time, role play, and programs such as the Zones of Regulation and Respectful Relationships, students learn strategies for empathy, conflict resolution, and self-regulation. Our teachers create safe and inclusive classrooms where every child feels valued and supported to express themselves respectfully. By embedding SEL across all areas of learning, we help students develop the confidence, emotional intelligence, and social skills they need to thrive both at school and in life.
