Disability Inclusion is a way of supporting students with disability in Victorian government schools. It provides:
- Funding and resources at the school-level.
- Access to specialist expertise and support.
- A clearer, more consistent process for identifying and supporting students’ needs.
- Stronger inclusive teaching practices in every classroom.
The program supports students with a wide range of needs, including:
- Physical disabilities.
- Autism.
- Learning difficulties.
- Communication needs.
- Social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
- Other diagnosed or disabilities.
How students are supported
Support is tailored to each student’s individual needs. This may include:
- Differentiated classroom teaching.
- Adjustments to learning tasks and assessments.
- Small group or targeted support programs.
- Assistive technology.
- Access to specialist staff or external services.
Schools work closely with families, teachers, and specialists to ensure the right supports are in place.
The Disability Inclusion Profile
Some students may participate in a Disability Inclusion Profile meeting. This is a structured, collaborative process that:
- Involves parents or carers, school staff, and specialists.
- Builds a detailed understanding of the student’s strengths and needs.
- Identifies the adjustments and supports required.
- Helps determine the level of funding the school receives to support the student.
Families are supported throughout this process and are important partners in decision-making.
Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Students who receive additional support will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
An IEP:
- Outlines the student’s learning goals.
- Describes the adjustments and supports in place.
- Is developed in partnership with parents and carers.
- Is reviewed regularly to monitor progress.
Inclusive practices at our school
At our school, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. This includes:

- Positive behaviour and wellbeing supports.
- Accessible learning environments.
- Strong partnerships with families and support services.

- Communicate regularly about student progress and support.
- Involve families in planning and review meetings.
- Provide information about available supports and services.
