At Kulap Primary School, we value the strong partnership between families and the school. When parents and carers are involved in school life, students feel more supported, connected, and confident in their learning.
We welcome family involvement in a range of ways, while following Victorian Department of Education requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
Ways parents can be involved
Parents and carers may choose to support the school by:
- Volunteering in classrooms or learning programs.
- Assisting on excursions or at special events.
- Helping with school activities, celebrations, or fundraising.
- Joining the School Council or subcommittees.
- Attending information sessions, performances, and community events.
All involvement is appreciated and helps strengthen our school community.
Before volunteering at the school or on excursions, parents and carers must:
- Hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- This must be valid and linked to the school.
- Volunteers must provide their WWCC details to the school office.
- Follow the school’s Child Safety and volunteer procedures
- Sign in at the school office when volunteering.
- Wear a visitor or volunteer badge if required.
- Follow staff directions and school expectations at all times.
- Respect privacy and confidentiality
- Information about students, staff, or families must remain confidential.
- Photos or videos of students must not be taken or shared without permission.
School Council involvement
Parents and carers are encouraged to take an active role in school decision-making by joining the School Council.
School Council members:
- Help set the strategic direction of the school.
- Approve budgets and major policies.
- Represent the interests of the school community.
Elections for School Council are held each year, and all parents and carers are welcome to nominate.
